Various corals from the New England Seamount communities

Some animals from the New England Seamount community. The large pink coral on the right is a gorgonian soft coral (Paragorgia sp.), as is the one with the thin stalk at top center (Metallogorgia sp.). A brisingid sea star perches on a dead coral skeleton and two species of sponges are visible in the lower left. This photograph was taken from Alvin in June 2003.
