Monkfish

Monkfish, or goosefish, seen while exploring Washington Canyon at a depth of approximately 660 meters. Watch closely and you can see this anglerfish move the spine on its head. This modified spine is called an "esca" and can be angled forward so it can dangle in front of the fish's mouth and wiggled like bait to lure its prey.
