An unexpected resident on the site is a tube worm more commonly associated with gas seeps in the Gulf of Mexico. These chemosynthetic creatures derive their sustenance from chemicals at the bottom of the deep ocean as opposed to photosynthetic-based life forms in the upper ocean and on land that depend on the sun.
