On board Research Vessel Kilo Moana Dr. Andrew Pietruszka, one of the Principal Investigators of the  Deepwater Surveys of World War II U.S. Cultural Assets in the Saipan Channel expedition from Scripps Institution of Oceanography, helps guide piloting of a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) that is exploring underwater sites that may contain aircraft wreckage. Dr. Pietruszka is the lead archaeologist of the program. Screens show a live feed from the cameras as well as information on depth and pitch of the ROV. Additionally, a forward-looking sonar is used to guide researchers to objects that are out of the field of view of the cameras.
