We spotted this squat lobster perched on a black coral at a depth of 999 meters (3,278 feet) during Dive 05 of the second Voyage to the Ridge 2022 expedition. Most squat lobsters are found in deeper waters and have very long claws (called chela) that can be twice as long as their bodies.
