During Dive 07 of the second Voyage to the Ridge 2022 expedition, the skilled remotely operated vehicle pilots with the Global Foundation for Ocean Exploration were able to break off a piece of in-place pillow rind fragment for collection. This was one of three such in situ samples collected during the dive. This particular sample also happened to have several small worm tubes attached to it – biology bonus!
