side scan sonar image of the Cornelia B. Windiate

While transporting wheat to Buffalo, NY the Cornelia B. Windiate became trapped in ice, cut and sank. For over a century, she was thought to be in the Western Straits since she was not reported to have passed through the Straits. The wreck was discovered in 1987 and is in excellent condition.
