Red Jellyfish: July 28, 2021

The final dive of the 2021 North Atlantic Stepping Stones expedition was dedicated to exploration of the water column within Hydrographer Canyon through two series of transects. This beautiful red jellyfish was seen during the 700-meter (2,297-foot) water column exploration tract. Scientists were able to identify it as belonging to the genus Poralia, but think that it may be an undescribed species.
