A cusk eel, in the family Ophidiidae, swam right up to the cameras on ROV Deep Discoverer at the beginning of Dive 01 of the Seascape Alaska 5 expedition. It remained up close for multiple minutes before the ROV moved on to a new view. This was observed at a depth of 3,100 meters (10,170 feet).
