Photogrammetry Collection

In 2025, NOAA Ocean Exploration and partners returned to the wreck of USS Yorktown. Over two remotely operated vehicle dives, they collected video that was used to produce a new photogrammetric model of the wreck.

NOAA Ocean Exploration’s team features expert scientists, technicians, communicators, and more. For this Valentine’s Day, though, we challenged our staff and their families to try something new to many of them: deep-sea art!

This time of year in the United States, we are preparing to give thanks and to EAT! So, as we look back at 20 years of NOAA Ocean Exploration, we are thankful to have caught so many amazing deep-sea feeding events on video.
As a community, ocean explorers have made awe inspiring strides toward increasing our understanding of the chemical, biological, geological, physical, and archaeological aspects of the ocean; however, there is a lot of work left to be done.
Every discovery matters, and we value each and every one of them. We’ve highlighted just a few NOAA Ocean Exploration-supported discoveries.
