Metallogorgia polyps and an Asteronyx brittle star

Close-up of polyps of the octocoral Metallogorgia found at 2173 meters depth on Kelvin Seamount. We found many Metallogorgia colonies on both Manning and Kelvin Seamounts, and all the colonies we observed had a single brittle star, Asteronyx, in their branches.
