Tenants of Titov Seamount: March 21, 2017

The second dive of the Discovering the Deep: Exploring Remote Pacific Marine Protected Areas on Titov Seamount started at the base of a steep, sedimented slope at approximately 1,200 meters (3,937 feet) depth. During the dive, we observed numerous corals that supported a wide range of marine life, from fish, crinoids, sea cucumbers, sponges, and more. Throughout the dive, suspended particulate material was observed, possibly indicative of sufficient food supply to sustain these corals.
